The Stardust Drive-In opened on October 18, 1949 with Bela Lugosi in “Spooks Run Wild”. Located on New York Route 9 at Tara Lane, a mile north of the city of Plattsburgh.
In the 1970’s they started to mix some X-rated fare into their bookings and by the end were exclusively X-rated. The town objected because the screen was partly visible from the highway and young people were sneaking onto the property next door to watch the movies. The town solved the problem by buying the land for low income housing. It closed in 1987. Today it is the home of the Evergreen Townhouse Community.

Approx. location for this drive-in was U.S. 9 & Tara Ln.
Given there’s was a shopping center across the street, I can see how showtime was a problem towards the end!
