Originally built in 1902 was a winter garden, it was converted into a music hall theatre in 1907. It gained fame for the famous French artistes who trod the boards over the years, including Maurice Chevalier, Edith Piaf, Charles Anzavour etc. Films began to be screened from the 1930’s.
Badly damaged by a bomb which exploded in the auditorium in 1943. It was restored and re-opened in February 1951. Now re-modeled into an Art Deco style cinema, retaining its stage facilities. Seating was located in orchestra, dress circle and balcony levels. The renovation was carried out by architects Pierre de Montaut, Adrienne Gorska, and Le Soufache. The building also contained a tea room and a nightclub.
Closed in recent years, it has been converted into a shopping mall, containing over 200 stores on its 3 levels.
