Hillcrest - Spartanburg, SC

When opened in the early-1970’s, it was one of the first multiplex theatres in the region. Spartanburg’s Hillcrest Twin Theatres would serve this city for many years, playing blockbusters such as "Jaws" and many 007 movies.

When the large mall out by 1-26 opened, and more larger multiplexes and Regal coming into the market, the Hillcrest Twin Theatre and other Spartanburg screens would go dark.

Because it opened as a Twin, on the first day, “All Twins Admitted Free”.

The first two movies had Burt Lancaster in LAWMAN and Mark Lester in BLACK BEAUTY.

Anyone have more info or photos?

Spartanburg reminds me of Navy Chief Marie Horton.

“LAWMAN” was a dang good movie from one of my favorites Burt Lancaster thanks for that info. Irvin-Fuller ran the Carolinas.
