The Lincolndale Twin Drive-In appears to be EXTREMELY short-lived. The Indianapolis Star reported that the Lincolndale on US-30 East in Warsaw was completely closed in September 1986 and also stated that the buildings and equipment were at auction.
Screen was moved to the Warsaw site in June, 1980. Article posted.
The Lincolndale Theater was damaged after it had closed due primarily to the death of the owner who was remembered as a good man. I guess I am a bit of a rarity now, because I actually went to the Lincolndale before it closed in Fort Wayne, The Peru when it was still located South of Peru, and the Lincolndale while I was in college near Warsaw.
lipalarp…Have pictures to share?
The Lincolndale was not on route 30. Before it was demolished, it was on US 30, westbound. The Warsaw Drive in, which lasted another decade (maybe)before also being demolished for a housing addition was on Lincolnway/Lincoln Highway/Old US 30. As near as I can recall, the Lincolndale had some heavy storm damage to the screens one spring, and was never repaired. For years, its location was marked by the old box office and a pile of dirt. It’s now the office for an excavating company.
My father built and owned the Lincolndale. He bought the Lincolndale Drive-in in Fort Wayne and the Peru Drive in and combined the best of the equipment to build the Warsaw Lincolndale. It died with his death.
My info,I forgot to mention it came from BOXOFFICE.
Open 1985-1995?
It got 2 screens in the early 1990’s?
I’ve found 2 locations the first one is in the middle of an old residential area so that makes no sense. The other location just lists Route 30, that makes more sense, Route 30 goes across the entire United States and is called LINCOLN HIGHWAY.
Need an address, more info and photos.
Can anyone verify the name? Another drive-in site lists this as Lincolnway.
