In the 1950’s, it was miles away from the lights of Atlanta, today, you might as well call it Atlanta. However, back in 1956 the Highway 12 Drive-In was a nice drive-in that was owned by Storey Theatres out of Atlanta. The Highway 12 Drive-In parked 400 cars.

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in. Old Covington Hwy was formerly known as Hwy 12. The drive-in footprint is visible on Google Earth using historic aerial imagery.
Here is a 1968 aerial photo of the drive-in, courtesy of Earth Explorer and USGS.
Most likely still operating in the late-1960s but was already closed by 1972. That year’s aerial show that the screen being collapsed and lying face forward for some reason. The screen was already gone by the mid-1970s.
