The Gulfstream Drive-In opened on December 21st, 1955 with “The Desperate Hours” and “Fort Vengenace”. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
Sorry Anthony. Gillette Stadium has nothing to do with drive-ins other than the land where the stadium sits was once the New England Raceway home of sulky racing and owned by E.M. Loews the owner of many theatres and Drive-ins from Maine to Florida. Most of his theatres were 2nd runs including his downtown Boston properties. I’m sorry you go SO UPSET at my original comment so whatever else you think take it and stuff it where the sun don’t shine
Ok, I am officially confused. Why does the Gilette Stadium in Massachusetts have to to with a drive in movie theatre and a racetrack that was allegedly located near it in down in Florida??
I have an old movie calendar from a Hallandale Drive-In Theatre and the only indication it gives about location is the following quote: “adjoining the west side of the Hollywood Dog Track”. This is why I asked if anyone knew if this listing is for that same theatre or if there happened to be another Hallendale Drive-In somewhere. If it’s for this one, I’ll post a picture of the calendar.
E.M. Loews theatres were headquarted in Boston. The RaceTrack somebody mentioned is now home of Gillette Stadium, home of he Great New England Patriots and the New England Revolution.
The Hallandale Drive-In was located at 831 North Federal Highway from 1949 to 1964.
Was this theatre known at one time as the Hallandale Drive-In and located to the west side of the Hollywood Dog Track?

More info this drive also had a 52 room motel located on both sides of the screen as can be seen in S Porridge post of Jun 29,2009.This site now is the Hallendale Shopping Center.Elias M. Loew 1898-1984 born in Austria, owned at one time 70 movie theatres,17 drive-ins, and a chain of hotels and the Bay State Raceway with a man named Lou Waters.As the header says this drive-in motel operated from 1955 til 1975.
Thats right Bob, or maybe you saw the movies for free for staying in the Motel.Cross promotion I believe they used to call it.
I suppose if you sat in your motel room you could watch the cars watching the movies?
I know the drive-in was open and owned by E. M. Loew’s Theaters in 1967.

Just noticed that if you look very closely at the screen (three rows from the top), you can see “E M LOEWS” spelled out.

I believe Mike that is why Elias Loew called his company E.M.Loews so the it would not be confused with Marcus Loew’s company,and you are right everyone was not sue-happy back then.Its like the AMC LOEWS theatres. AMC bought the LOEWS “BRAND” as Loews inc. has nothing to do with theatres anymore.Although they are big in Hotels,Oil companys,Insurance,any many other things,no back to the Gulfstream………….!

Mike, it was a separate chain operated out of Boston by a man named Elias M. Loew.
E.M.Loews is not part of Loews Theatres ? where they ever ?
