a/perture Cinema opened in January 2010 in downtown Winston-Salem. It is a true independent movie theater. a/perture Cinema has two screens, with each theater seating approximately 80. the cinema plays independent, art, foreign, documentary and locally made films. The theater also serves unique concessions including beer and wine as well as normal concession fare.
a/perture Cinema is housed in the historic Chatham building. The original home of Montaldo’s (fine women’s clothing), the space was completely up-fitted with two state-of-the-art cinemas, equipped with 35mm and digital projection capabilities.

The theatre is alive and kicking.. A lot of great arthouse films that the city of WS would NEVER get to see on the big screen are now available to us, the theatre appears to be a success so far!
