Boxoffice, June 6, 1953: “Ernie Stautner, drive-in exhibitor and pro football tackle, will not report to the Pittsburgh Steelers until late August. Stautner and his brother-in-law, Ed Hoffman, operate the Sara-Pla between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. He said drive-in duties would entail a month delay in reporting”
Opened on 24/6/1950 with a Pluto cartoon(Canine Patrol), “The man from Colorado” and “Keep em flying”.
Is the miniture golf still there?
A closer address is Sara-Placid Rd & Old Military Rd, North Elba, NY.
The drive-in sits about ¾ a mile west of the crossroads on the north side of Sara-Placid Rd. You can just barely see the outline as the area is almost fully overgrown.

I tried to find a more precise location for this drive-in. I don’t believe there were street addresses for the areas between villages on the state highways. I searched Google earth and found an area on the Sara-Placid Rd. between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake where the forest is not fully grown in, and I believe this is the former drive-in site. There are no crossroads as this is in a wilderness area.
An address or crossroad would be helpful. Any photos or more info?
