Also if you’re ever in Cohoes, be sure to visit the Cohoes Music Hall, although not a cinema it’s certainly a treasure!

I was inside a few weeks ago—there really was nothing left except one pair of entrance doors, and remnants of two murals on the side walls of the auditorium that were extremely deteriorated and moldy.
Sad to see this one go—this theater’s marquee had great neon animation and I’ll always remember watching it fondly as a child from a nearby restaurant that my family patronized frequently.
We lose another Eberson creation. We can’t save them all, but it sure would be nice to try! I will be in Albany on Friday and will swing by to take a few demo files for the Theatre Historical Society archive file. Would rather be taking grand re-opening photos, however…
Are there no photos of this building, even in its derelict condition? For a house of this size and importance I would think there would, at least, be postcard images.
The correct address for this theatre is 12 White Street.
The theatre is scheduled for demolition starting as soon as tomorrow, 11/5/10.
“We’re mobilizing and demolishing the building” Mayor John T. McDonald III said Wednesday.
DiTonno and Sons of Colonie, NY had been contracted to demolish the building at a cost of $46,600.
The City of Cohoes voted to demolish this theater on 8/23/10. It is now in derelict condition with holes in the roof and nothing inside worth saving as it’s been totally gutted.
PLEASE CHANGE ADDRESS TO:
REMSEN STREET & WHITE STREET.
This theater was owned by Fabian Theaters.
