Located in the West Hillsborough district on South Nash Street, about 2 miles west of the historic downtown. The Gem Theatre was opened by 1926 it was still open in 1931, but had closed by 1932.
By 1935 it had reopened as the Hollywood Theatre, operating under that name into at least 1943. By 1950, it had been renamed Gem Theatre again, and it closed somewhere either in the mid-1950’s (it was still open in 1957) or early-1960’s, and it has since been remodeled and in 2019 is a BBQ restaurant.
