Located in the fishing port of Negombo. The Regal Cinema was opened in 1947. According to a plaque on the outside wall, it was designed by a Ceylonese architect. Seating is provided in stalls and circle. It is operated by the Ceylon Theatres chain. The Regal Cinema was closed in November 2015 due to flooding.

I visited this theatre in December 2015. The ground level of the theatre was flooded – the chairs were standing in five inches of water. This was a very recent problem: only three weeks prior, cracks had opened up in the floor (and in the walls) and water seeped in. Needless to say, this means the theater is no longer operational. (It was until November 2015). The manager told me they were looking into renovating or possibly tearing the structure down to make room for a new one.
