There was the occasion when us kids went to see JAWS, and this was after a giant rainstorm passed through the Fargo-Moorhead area. This resulted in standing water in one of the auditoriums. Every time the shark would attack, we’d lift our feet from the water because we thought the shark jump out and get us!
Closed June 15th, 1989 after CEC buys the Carmike Cinemas.

remember it well. it was a Cinerama set-up, with initial films including 2001:a space odyssey and ice station zebra. most expensive tickets in town ($1.25?). had a huge room for intermissions. two other firsts for fargo was seating in a smoking loge and a tv in the lobby.
Address was 3501 S University Dr. Opened 1968, closed 1989. Also known as South Cinema.
Michael, what is your guess on what pecentage of the CINERAMA Screen was used to show the 35mm, 1.85:1, THE ANDERSON TAPES?
Thanks Bob.

Note the CINERAMA Logo.
The October 7, 1968 issue of Boxoffice included a brief write-up about the opening of the Cinema 70, which, presumably, was in September ‘68. Owner was the St. Cloud, Minnesota-based Ross Theatre Circuit. “Oklahoma!” (in 70mm) was the debut attraction.
Any info anyone??
