This theater, the DEERFIELD Triple, was last operated by Carmike in the mid 90’s. It sat vacant for about 12 years and has since been torn down.
Thats too bad.
The Deerfield 3 was still in operation into the late 90’s as a discount 99 cent cinema. I remember seeing Sunset Park and the first Austin Powers movie here. Loved the layout, older but clean cinema. It’s been demolished and an empty spot of land sits awkwardly in the middle of the strip mall where it was once housed.
On July 20th, 1979, the Plitt Deerfield 1-2-3 opened, and on August 8th, 1980, it was called Plitt 1-2-3. After being purchased by Cineplex Odeon in 1986 and Carmike Cinemas in 1990, it was called Deerfield Triple before closing in 1998. Grand opening ad posted.
Opened on July 20, 1979 as a replacement of the downtown Fox Theatre which closed a few weeks beforehand.
Closed on Christmas Eve 1998.
