Loyalty theatre Upper Ferntree Gully 3156 - Later to become the 1812 Theatre.
The Royal Hotel Ferntree Gully was first opened in August 1889 in anticipation of the rail going through - Ferntree Gully railway station opened on 5 December 1889. Approval was granted on 5/09/1939 for C. Spalding to build The Loyalty Theatre which would be (clad in A/C sheeting) and contain 376 seats - Charlie Spalding became the registered exhibitor.
Wally Tew was an Assistant Projectionist at the Loyalty during the early life of the theatre.
