One of the three drive-in’s most Eastsiders would go to on the weekends. One of three drive-in theatres located in Whitehall (suburb of Columbus). The Eastside Drive-In was opened on April 26, 1946 with Rosalind Russell in “She Wouldn’t Say Yes” & Judy Canova in “Hit the Hay”.
The Eastside Drive-In was probably closed after the 1980 season. Newspaper lists indicate it ran during the winter season until 1977.

There were 3 Columbus-area drive-in’s in Whitehall:
In-Town @ 3651 E. Main Eastside @ 3811 E. Main (Miles) East Main @ 4750 E. Main
Can you create a page here for the In-Town? It is before my time in Columbus.
Uploaded aerial from 1957 showing Eastside and the In-Town Auto theater.
In the picture from HistoricAerials, the Eastside drive-in is on the right.
The map location shown here looks wrong — way east of where it should be.
The map location is correct. The give-away is that diagonal train track that crossed Main Street just east of Barnett Road. That track was just at the Whitehall border.
The map location is at Main and Yearling, which is not at all consistent with either my memory of the place, or the aerial photo.
Oh, I understand now. You were referring to the Google Map, not the Historical Aerial. The Google map is definitely too far east.
The front entrance next to Main Street is now an Aldi grocery store. The rest of the property appears to now be some sort of warehouse or light industrial district.
This opened on April 26th, 1946. First ad posted.
