Located at Caithness Barracks, Verden an der Aller, Germany, the Globe Theatre had a single level auditorium. The design of the building was fairly typical of the military cinemas built and operated in post war Germany by the Army Kinema Corporation (AKC).
Attendances were huge during the 1950’s and early-1960’s, thereafter declining as British television broadcasts to UK military families became increasingly prevalent. The Globe Theatre continued, latterly part time, until the base was closed in the 1990’s. The building survived for a short time until it’s eventual demolition.
