The State Theatre closed on July 29, 1947 with Judy Garland in “The Harvey Gurls” & Penny Singleton in “Blondie Knows Best”. It stated closure was for a summer break, but it never reopened. In 1953 it became a BBQ Supply Warehouse. It later became a bowling alley & bar name The Clique which still operates in 2024.

Opened on January 6th, 1935. Grand opening ad posted.
Held an reopening on January 5th, 1946 and newspaper listings ended in 1947
It was listed as “closed for the summer” after the July 29, 1947 showings of “The Harvey Girls” and “Blondie Knows Best” supported by a clever cartoon. Blondie knows that the State did not reopen.
