Carlton Cinema

The Orpington Picture Palace opened in 1911. It was built for and operated by the local Spencer-May family throughout its first 3 decades. By 1937, it had been re-named Palace Cinema.

In 1951, it was re-named Carlton Cinema. It was closed in September 1959, with Kenneth Moore in "The Admirable Crichton" and “Song of India”. The building was converted into a garage, and was later demolished.
