The Rio Theatre opened in 1918. It was remodelled in 1933 to the plans of architectural firm Babin & Neff, reopening on September 29, 1933. It was operated by Jefferson Amusement Co. & East Texas Theatres.
The Rio Theatre closed sometime in the early-1950’s and has since been demolished. The site is the home of the Texas State Bank.

This house was open before 1933, the year in which it was remodeled, according to this item form Motion Picture Herald of September 23:
As the item doesn’t give the name of the theater itself, but only that of the company having it remodeled, it’s possible that it had previously operated under a different name.The original Rio design was architected in 1918 by C.A. Logan who had relocated from Port Arthur to Beaumont. It was then opened by Sol E. Gordon, J.I. Pittman, and J.C. Clemmons
