The Drive-In was opened July 9, 1954 with Mitzi Gaynor in “Three Young Texans”, William Holden in “Escape from Fort Bravo” & John Wayne in “Island in the Sky”. It was operated by Schuler Baird. This was a single screen theatre, that sat on the hill behind the current super pets building. It was closed on September 5,1994 with Sam Neill in “Jurassic Park” and Tom Hanks in “Forest Gump”. It had been demolished by 1998.
The space is now a Home Depot and its parking lot.

Matt, in 1956 it was owned by S. Baird.
This theater operated up until the mid 1990s because I went to it a few times as a kid.
I saw paper moon, services, and save the tiger in ‘74
Serpico, not services.
It was there in the mid-80’s. Had the FM radio setting but still retained the speakers.

Those films “Wolf” and “Wyatt Earp” were both released in 1994, so I guess the New Albany was still there at that time
A 1992 aerial shows it still intact with screen and by 1998 it was levelled with no trace left. Probably closed between 1994 and 1998.

The New Albany Drive-In looks like it closed for the final time on September 5, 1994 with “Jurassic Park” and “Forrest Gump” as its final films. A 1995 article said that the drive-in didn’t reopen in mid-1995.
