The Picturedrome opened in 1912. By 1937, it had been re-named Capitol Cinema and was operated by Woodwards Cinemas.
The Capitol Cinema closed in 1948 and lay empty and unused for some years. The building was purchased in 1953 by David Evans Ltd. of Swansea and converted into a furnishing store.

This should read closed/Demolished, the building was demolished in the 1970’s for the construction of a new town centre.
The original entry is correct. Sean. your comment is for the Majestic/Odeon Port Tablbot which stood behind the Capital and the Odeon was removed for the now current Tesco store. I covered in the Odeon’s projection room and the David Evans store ( former Capitol stood around the corner)
