I believe, today, Feb 2024, the structure is no longer occupied and sits vacant.. RAC Photography
Showmen’s Trade Review, July 15, 1944: “Equipment damaged in the Palace theatre fire at Lordsburg, N. M., will be replaced. Mrs. S. E. Allen was in Denver securing priorities and arranging for new material.”
Hmm. Showmen’s Trade Review, March 28, 1942: “Lordsburg, N. M. — Work has been started on the Palace Theatre being built here by Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Allen, who also operate a theatre in Hatch, N. M.”
This was known originally as The Star Theatre, a silent movie theatre.. Later becoming known as The Palace Theatre. Today, Western Auto took over the building. The Palace has been closed at least some 55-60+ years. RAC Photography – The above capture, I took back in Dec 2010!!
To note: Western Auto had the end section of the building then later moving into the Palace Theatre section, giving Western Auto more room……
The Palace Theatre as it looks today.. View link .. The Western Auto moved into the space once occupied by the Theatre.
