Cinemark closed here as a discount house at the end of its 20-year leasing cycle on Oct. 25, 2009 just two days prior to its 20th Anniversary.

BTW: it is/was the Green Tree (not Greentree)

Well guys some number of years have passed and now again I am trying to lease this building. The mall has been sold. Since the my other building burned taking all of my stuff with it. No insurance on content. :( oh well, I was more sad about losing the building. It was in very bad shape though and the owners had no intentions of redoing it. Onward and upward, I have a meeting on Thursday to talk lease. Intentions are similar as before, it will have live performance space in the large theater( which is intact) the other spaces will house a state of the art haunted attraction. Also slated are Lazer tag, concessions, a 3D black light attraction and a museum quality display of Holywood horror movies past and present. Wish me luck I think they know that nobody else wants his building anymore…….. it is still in good shape and I know that I can bring it back to life. By the way it has been used by a church for a couple of years and they kept it in pretty good shape. It needs a little patching on the roof and a little bit of stucco work. It really not that bad though. Wish me luck.

The Greentree 10 opened in 1989 by Premiere Cinemas of Knoxville, TN and was located in the back parking lot of the mall. They also operated the Greentree 4 in an acquisition of Associated Theatres. At the time of the opening, Premiere had already made a deal to sell its theatres to Cinemark. Premiere Cinemas was run by Mike Campbell who worked for Cinemark for a short time and then left to start Regal Cinemas.

still training dogs, in here. every now and then the people in there turn on the neon, assumably by mistake since they cant figure how to turn it off….i left the 4 “Psychomania” at like 5 in the morning an all the neon was on , sign boards too. what goof offs, but atleast there is heat and air on in the building that helps keep it more preserved.

well guys, I have been in talks with the owners and i have come to the conclusion that don’t agree with their contract proposed to me.. As of right the local animal shelter is training dogs in the lobby. If after a while the realize the building is not going to be leased to anyone else maybe they will be willing to renegotiate. So as of now all the plans that i have for the building are on hold, i would really love to see a 2 or 3 dollar movie come back in, their monthly rent was just to much for the 1 dollar admission that Cinemark was charging. If anyone is interested it can still work and be profitable. you would need screens and projectors also sound equipment and of course concessions. the seats and everything else is still in place and the building is clean, well i hope the animal shelter will clean up after themselves. the lobby is all tile and that is the only place they are allowed to use.

I am the Leasee of the former Greentree 4, and i am making a vow that the Greentree 10 will not sit vacant long. I am working on a plan with my investors to reopen the building as a live stage performance theater, with space for independent film showing and more. this building will live again. By the way, many of the original fixtures and screens were salvaged by the “professional dumpster divers of Psychomaina” and it is very hard to dumpster dive in the mall parking-lot, in broad daylight. That is a toot of our own horn…..wish us luck in both theaters.
