Two Erie men took the theater over in August 1935 and was remodeled that same month. It was still open in 1954.

Dunkirk Men Lease Theater in Brocton
D. Purdy Monroe and Arthur Sandberg of Dunkirk have leased the Gem Theater on Main street in Brocton and will take over management of the motion picture house on May 2.
The name will then be changed to Lake theater.
Meanwhile, extensive remodeling, both interior and exterior, will be done by David Monroe.

Was the Lake in town? Interesting to learn of the Majestic and the Alcazar, too. Brocton is famous for their Main Street arch at the main intersection and traffic light in town. A campaign was started to restore this arch that is the only arch of its kind East of the Mississippi River.
June 8 and 9 1951 has Alan Ladd in “BRANDED” playing here at the Lake Theatre.
Is there any address associated with this theater, beyond the generic Main Street? Brocton is small, but not that small. :)
I’ve found the Gem mentioned in issues of Boxoffice as early as 1936. A couple of times it’s called the New Gem. The earliest mention of the Lake is in 1950.
There was also an Alcazar Theatre in Brocton at one time, mentioned in the November 24, 1931, issue of Exhibitor’s Forum. I don’t know if this was an earlier name for the Gem/Lake or not.
