Many memories! Saturday morning kids' sessions: hundreds of us standing in silence to mark Tommy Handley’s death! Swearing blind I was 16 (actually 14) to see House of Wax, then being rather scared. Lusting after Brigitte Bardot in And Woman was Created. Sword fights in Scaramouche. This was my nearest cinema but we had 10 more within a short bus ride and used to go most weeks in the 1950s.

My mum took me fairly regularly in the 1950’s, when there wasn’t much else on at the Odeon and Gaumont in North Finchley. I don’t remember much about the building, so it would be nice to see some photos from that era – sadly, none seem to exist, or be available.

I visited this cinema just once and remember that it was a typically 20s cinema. The Inspector Of taxes now occupy Gateway House!
