The Ray Theatre was one of many projects started by the Ray-Regan family, who owned the hotel next door, the St. Charles. The Ray Theatre was opened on December 25, 1916 with Gladys Brockwell in “Sins of Her Parent”.

The building containing the theater burned down during the St. Charles Hotel fire on February 1 1950.

The Ray theatre opened on December 25th, 1916 and appeared to close in December 1923. No mention of the Ray theatre before 1916 in the Dickinson Press. Grand opening ad posted.
