Rialto Cinema

The Victory Cinema was located in the district of Deepdale. It opened in 1921 in a building which had originally been a chapel, and there were originally 700 seats and the proscenium was 18 feet wide.

On 26th April 1930, it was re-named Rialto Cinema. In the late-1940’s it was briefly re-named Little Vic Cinema. After a number of years the seating capacity was reduced to 300 and it closed in December 1958. The last film to be shown was “You’re In The Army Now”.

The building was in turn a Sunday school, a day school and a store and became the headquarters for the North Lancashire Deaf and Dumb Society. It was converted into student accommodation. In July 2008, it was badly damaged in an arson attack and was subsequently demolished.
