The Comet Drive-In was opened on April 28, 1950 with Larry Parks in “Renegade”. It was operated by Jim Rochelle. It was located on the north side of W. Broadway Avenue, opposite the Starlight Drive-In which opened 2-weeks later. The Comet Drive-In operated into the late-1980’s.

Now Super 8 Motel. Approx. address for this drive-in was 2116 West Broadway.
The June 10, 1950 issue of BoxOffice included the Comet, “300 cars, owned by John Blakeman and Jim Rochelle”, in its list of newly built drive-ins that opened in May 1950. It also included Sulphur’s Starlite in that list.
Approximate address now is actually 2104 W Broadway Ave, Sulphur, OK.
The Comet Drive-In sat where the Carl’s Jr. and the Veritas School is located today. All remnants of the drive-in have been removed.
The Comet Drive-In opened its gates on April 28, 1950 with Larry Parks in “Renegade” along with a few unnamed short subjects. It was first operated by John Blakeman and Jim Rochell.
The Comet Drive-In continued operating into the late-1980s, but was gone by the mid-1990s.
