Irving Theater 1969

The theater closed in 1967, but made a brief run as a Gospel Church and rentable hall. Finally was sold and used as a sound stage for rock videos (before MTV) and commercials.

It re-opened maybe a year or two later and started showing movies again it was probably close towards the end of the 70s when it started doing the rock videos and soundstage I grew up here I remember when they had a baby soundproof booth I loved sitting up in the balcony. first movie I saw here I believe was a Sonny and Cher movie I can’t remember what the title was but I went to see the movie Billy Jack probably 50 times here and The Planet of the Apes.
