The Roxy Theatre was opened on December 29, 1940 with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in “Safari” & Richard Arlen in “The Man from Montreal”. It was closed on April 15, 1956 screening Spanish language films.

The Roxy in Wichita was listed as a foreign language theater in the 1947 IMPA, but the exact language is not specified.
This block has been completely redeveloped. The theater has been razed.
I know it’s a different address (further down the street) but does it have any relationship to the current Roxy’s Downtown and its pre-existing neon sign?
The Roxy theatre opened on December 29th with “Safari” and “The Man from Montréal”.
That’s December 29th, 1940.
The Roxy exits Wichita’s downtown with Azteca Studio Films on April 15, 1956 and a double feature “Historia de un Corazón” with Rosario Granados and “Los hijos de María Morale” with Irma Durantes. The building was converted that year for other purposes and later razed.
