The Actual History Of The Arcade Theatre Takes Place In The 1910s. In 1919, The Arcade Was Once Almost Destroyed By A Small Fire And Was Remodeled Later On. In June 1936, The Arcade Changed Its Name To The State, And Was Remodeled Once Again. Along With The Ritz And The Texas, All 3 Theaters Are Locally Owned And Operated Later On After The Pope Took Its Local Operations As An Operator After Being A Chain For A While. Yes It Did Close In 1953, But However, The Local Theater Chain Ritz-Texas-State Theaters Inc. Of McKinney Remained Its “State” Name Until October Of 1955.
This theater was the Arcade Theatre by Mr. and Mrs. E. Black. It was purchased by the operators of the neighboring Texas Theatre and nearby Pope Theatre. In 1936, it was remodeled and renamed the State Theatre. The State went out of business on December 29, 1951 sith a double feature of “The Mysterious Rider” and “Flying Disc Man.”
