The Station Picture Hall was the first cinema to open in Croydon. It opened in May 1908 and the entrance was through a shop front.
By 1913 it had been re-named West Croydon Picture Hall, and by May 1914 it had been re-named Kings Picture Palace. It was closed in 1917 when the Cinematograph Licence expires on 15th October 1917 and also due to lack of patrons during World War I.
It then returned back to retail use, in recent years as a trendy menswear store and underground dance music store known as The Edge@Wax, and in 2009 as Original Barbers, a men’s hairdresser. By 2019 it was in use as a small grocery store named Home Sweet Home. In the summer of 2020 it was announce that the premises would be demolished for redevelopment, but the façade would be retained. Demolition happened in May 2022. The façade was retained.

In July 2008, these premises were occupied by Original Barbers, while Home Sweet Home was further along the road at number 24. However, at some point these two businesses swapped over, and by May 2012 Home Sweet Home was at number 12 and Original Barbers at number 24. Currently correct March 2017.
