Located on the corner of Station Road and Connaught Avenue, directly opposite Chingford railway station. The Chingford Pavilion Cinema opened on 14th October 1920. It had a 20 feet wide proscenium and a small stage. It was re-named Chingford Cinema in late-1929 after it had been equipped to screen sound films. In 1937 it was taken over by Norbert Theatres, who operated the Regal Cinema, Highams Park. On 30th May 1941, it was re-named Doric Cinema.
The Doric Cinema was closed in July 1957, but re-opened under new owners on 23rd January 1959, as the New Doric Cinema with Alec Guinness in "Oliver Twist".
The New Doric Cinema closed in 1961, and was demolished for offices to be built on the site. In 2009, the DSA Driving Test Centre operates from the office building.
