Star Wars ad posted.
I remember seeing “Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope” for just the second time at this cinema on Sunday, October 22, 1977 with my younger sister (my folks went to see “Oh, God!,” playing in another cinema in the complex); I had seen it for the very first time on Wednesday, August 10, 1977 in Pennsylvania with my cousin at the Laurel 30 Cinema in Latrobe. By the time I saw “Star Wars” again, I had already bought the soundtrack album, and immediately proceeded to hear it again when I got home (I had the poster that was included with the album hanging on my bedroom wall. I was 15 then and we were living in Lansing).
I think H & M clothing store sits on that site where the Meridian Mall West 4 was.
This opened as the first 4-plex in the state on June 11th, 1970. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this cinema.
Both the West 4 and East 4 were actually open until around 2000. I remember going to both theaters then. Wikipedia seems to confirm this: “In January 2000, the Meridian 4 East theaters was closed, while the Meridian 4 West continued operating until it was also closed in the summer of 2000.”

West 4 is now retail space within the mall. Most of it is now a Justice clothing store.
Was vacationing back in Michigan when this one closed – not a pretty sight watching it being broken up, with pieces of chairs strewn about.
Saw more than a few movies here when I worked at Michigan State, including “Mortal Kombat”. A good place to go on a Saturday afternoon.
