Located in the southeast London inner city district of Bermondsey. Opened around 1914, the Palace Cinema was operated by Nicholson & Wood. In 1937 the Palace Cinema is listed as operating pictures and variety. The stage was 30 feet wide and 12 feet deep with two dressing rooms provided.

It seems to have closed during World War II when the area was suffering extensive bomb damage. In 2009, Sam’s Barber’s shop stands at this address on the corner of Ambrose Street.

The Photo was taken about 1926,that was the date of the Film release. And there is some association with the Imperial War Museum at lambeth,London.who Loaned the exhibits, although they do not have any record of this event..I used to frequent this Cinema just prior to WW2,and had a look at the damage the night after it was destroyed…The roof was actually sideways in Ambrose street. The marble steps leading up to the foyer remained long after the war.And the area had an EWS(emergency Wate Supply,Built on the site…2d rush every Sat morning was the kids fave…as was the Mickey Mouse Club …blitzkid
