This was the second theatre in Waterbury to operate as the Lyric Theater. This one opened in 1911. In 1935 it was renamed Lido Theater. In 1969 it went over to operating as an adult theatre named Mini-Cinema.
It was demolished and the Courtyard Marriot Hotel was built on the site.

The second Lyric Theater in Waterbury opened in 1911 and became The Lido Theater in 1935 with the Quatrano family in charge, followed by Billy and Johnny Sirica, until it went dark around 1962. The Sirica brothers then became owners of the Watertown Drive-In.
I was in Waterbury on Monday and decided to visit every listed Waterbury movie theater, living or deceased. I couldn’t find the number of this building as it was demolished but 236 wasn’t anywhere.
Oh well.
Became a porn house for awhile – was called the Mini-Cinema. Playing a porn film followed by a third run feature.
The Courtyard Marriott hotel now occupies the site.
I remember seeing the Lido while driving down South Main some time in the mid-1990’s so it must have been taken down soon after then.

It became the Mini Cinema in 1969 with the LaFlamme brothers.
I have a photo of my father in 1939 changing the marquee at the Lido. “The Secret of Dr. Kildare with Lew Ayres” and “Reno with Anita Louise & Richard Dix” Was playing. My Dad was an usher there and my uncle was the projectionist.
