Located at the intersection of Dickerson Boulevard and Roosevelt Boulevard, next to the Monroe Mall. The Union Square Cinemas opened May 17, 1991 under the Consolidated Theatres chain after the closing of the Union Village Cinemas I-II-III. The theatre is located in the Union Square Shopping Center at the intersections of Dickerson Boulevard and W. Roosevelt Boulevard(Highway 74 West) opposite across from the Monroe Mall. It was later taken over by United Artists, and finally operated by Regal.
It was closed by Regal Cinemas in July 2012. It was taken over by NCG Cinemas and reopened December 12, 2015 as the NCG Cinema Monroe.

Consolidated Theatres owned the Union Village Shopping Center theatres. As far as I know they also built the Union Square Cinemas.
Fairlane-Litchfield were buying screens all over the Southeast.Only to sell out to UA.
The announcement that this theatre is now closed appeared in the Enquirer-Journal on Aug. 2, 2012.
The bigger and larger Sun Valley Cinemas 14 in Indian Trail replaced the Union Square 8 in Monroe,which closed it’s doors in July of 2012
This theatre was built by Consolidated Theatres.

It opened under Consolidated Theatres on May 17, 1991.
Regal Cinemas closed the Union Square Cinemas on August 2, 2012 when Stone Theatres opened a huge 14-screen multiplex in nearby Indian Trail outside Monroe.
