This was a great and popular second run theater operated by Harkins Theatres. It closed its doors in the early to mid-1990’s. Lots of memories there.

The theatre was located on the NE corner of Shea and 32nd Street in a strip shopping center with a grocery store and a few other businesses. It faced 32nd Street.

also known as Cinema 3
It appears Dwight Harkins numbered his theatres as he opened them in their Grand Opening ads. #1 was Tower Plaza, #2 was Los Arcos #3 Shea #5 Glenfair. So far #4 is a mystery theatre. Even though the Shea is #3, it opened as a twin theatre.
Yes, it was on the NE corner of Shea Blvd and 32nd St. I used to spend my Saturdays there with one of my brothers watching Godzilla movies- all day for a dollar (if I recall correctly)-in the air-conditioning. It was a great way to pass time during the hot summer months. At the time, this was the only shopping center around for miles.
Before 1983 it was a larger, single screen cinema. It closed in the early 80s and re-opened with two smaller screens. The last movie I saw there before the change was “Poltergeist”.
