Operating since at least 1927, this was your classic neighborhood theatre in the Pleasant Ridge neighborhood. It was equipped with Kilgen 2 manual 4 ranks organ. It played films after exclusive runs in the downtown theatres, a little bit of everything from Bond to Disney. By 1950 it was operated by the Mid-States Theaters Inc.
It began its decline in the late-1960’s, and by then was featuring double bills and the occasional X-rated film. Sometime in 1971 or 1972 it switched to showing X-rated films, but neighborhood protests ended that policy. In 1973 it briefly returned to screening 2nd-run double features. Soon after it closed and was demolished to became a parking lot.

This theater was operating at least since 1927. A Kilgen 2/4 Organ was installed in the Monte Vista Theatre in 1927.
Manager in 1929 was Elmer A. Shard, it seated 750 patrons.Mr. Shard probably owned the Shard Th. later in the decade.
In a story on adult businesses in The Cincinnati Post on June 22, 1973, it states that the Monte Vista had been shut down by a Common Pleas Court order on November 1, 1972. Sometime later in 1973, the theatre reopened and returned to second-run double features.
