Name should be changed to Roadhouse Cinemas Scottsdale.
The Pima and Maricopa tribes developed the Talking Stick Entertainment District, and must have chosen the name for it. I would assume there is some tribal self-assertion in the choice.
For a couple hundred years the Indians were denigrated or ignored by the dominant culture, but now the tribes have learned how to work the system to their advantage, and we will have to pay attention to them for a change. They have the talking stick now.

Don’t comment unless you are holding the talking stick. It should really be a rule in all theaters (and a cellphone does not count as a talking stick.)

The renovation of this multiplex for UltraStar Cinemas in 2010 was designed by Phoenix architectural firm Level 4 Studio (now defunct.) The original building was entirely gutted and rebuilt with stadium seating. The project had six all-ages theaters, the largest seating 250, plus five smaller screens seating 30 to 40 adults, and in these beer, wine, and food service were available.
The project also featured a cinema café . The total seating capacity was close to 1,600, according to this article in Film Journal.
The UltraStar Scottsdale Pavilion 11 in Scottsdale, Arizona closed on August 17, 2015, according to a message posted on the theater’s parent company’s web site:
The Scottsdale Pavilions UltraStar Theater will be ceasing operations effective August 17.

This opened as Scottsdale Pavilions by United Artists on November 17th, 1989 and closed in 2009. Reopened as Ultraluxe on November 19th, 2010 and closed again on August 17th, 2015. Grand opening ads as well as the website closing announcement in photo section for this cinema.

Very true.
I went to this theater many times when it was open. The entire shopping center was hit hard by the recession, and many businesses closed up or moved. It is up for sale. It would be nice if it could reopen again, but they need a better movie selection and more tennants to move into the Pavillions to be successful.
The Pavilions opened in late 1989 and had 70mm capabilities (although they never showed anything in 70mm). The three largest auditoriums had THX and the largest was fitted with a Cinema Digital Sound processor for “Terminator 2”. It was the only theater in Arizona to have the short lived CDS format.
