The Gem Theater was opened in February of 1914 by O.C. Hauber. Around 1917 the Gem Theater became the Miller Theater. The name was later changed to the Strand Theater.
The Strand Theater is still listed in 1955.

LM’s first post link doesn’t work for me. The only difference I see is they took a dash out of their pbjclibrary website name.

The pictures says the Gem / Miller / Strand was at E. 2nd and State St. Nothing is there at that corner any longer except some empty lots or new construction.
The drugstore mentioned above is at 2nd St and Main. The picture linked above on 2/12/09 shows a building with vastly different windows up top.
Just down the street across from the Community Theater (207 W. 2nd) would have been the AMUSE-U Theater (208 W. 2nd St.)
A busy couple of blocks for theater back then.
