The Matthews Festival Cinemas 10 opened on July 3, 1987. It was owned and operated by Cineplex Odeon/Plitt Southern Theatres, who at one time operated the Park Terrace Theatres. This theater had a successful run for several years and was closed by Carmike Cinemas on August 11, 2000. It has been converted into a gym in the last few years.

Carmike Cinemas took over this theatre in 1990 when they bought most of Cineplex Odeon’s North Carolina theatres. They were the last chain to operate this theatre.
MATTHEWS FESTIVAL TEN CINEMAS Address: 10498 East Independence Boulevard
This multiplex opened to the public on July 17,1987 under Cineplex Odeon/Plitt Southern Theatres. Carmike Cinemas took over this theatre in 1990 when they bought out all of the Cineplex Odeon’s North Carolina theatres. Carmike Cinemas was the last chain to operate this theatre until its closing in 1995.
Seating capacity was 1,710 seats
