Great memories at this theater. All-THX in the early 90s, which was a rarity.

That’s not confusing in a land full of Century Theatres.

According to the Maya Cinemas web site, the location is now being called the Century Mall 16. From the showtimes, it looks like 12 of the auditoria are now open.

The Brenden in Pittsburg was nice when it first opened, and looked amazing at night with all the neon that you could see through all the glass windows. And even though additional screens were added, somewhere along the line, they stopped the upkeep and maintenance and it started to become worn. This became noticeable as other theaters were built in the area.

Since Maya has taken over, I’ve been noticing extensive remodeling and changes to the outside, and I’d imagine to the inside. Can’t wait to see how it looks now.

actually Maya Cinemas and the city of san bernardino could not agree on the project and pulled out. Maya is renovating the theater formerly known as Brenden Theaters as we speak.

The Pittsburg 8 opened in 1990 and was Brenden Theatres' first venue. The company’s founder/CEO, Johnny Brenden, is the grandson of Ted Mann.

Maya was supposed to reopen the closed Cinemastar 20 in San Bernardino,California but, apparently, defaulted on a payment to the city and pulled out, paving the way for Regal to step in. So,i wouldn’t put any trust in Maya Cinemas.

The Brenden Pittsburg 16 closed after 22 years this past Sunday. Maya Cinemas is supposed to be reopening the building by Memorial Day.

The theatre originally opened as an 8-plex and was later expanded to 12 and then finally to 16. I don’t know the timeline on the expansions. I went there to see “21” during it’s first week. I found it amusing that the location still uses the old Theatron ticketing system but enjoyed my show quite well.
