Located in Solihull, Warwickshire, today a south-east district of Greater Birmingham. The 8-screen UCI opened in July 1989. It was a project of CIC. It was taken over by the Terra Firma Group who operated Odeon Theatres Ltd. on 28th October 2004, but was never re-branded Odeon. The UCI closed on 3rd March 2005 and was demolished later that year.
Seating capacities in the screens were; 286, 286, 250, 250, 210, 210, 180 and 180.

The UCI was an odd building as its frontage was at the rear of the building and faced on to the huge car park, away from the road.
Built as a CIC cinema, it was a very solid building with luxurious auditoriums.
It had a central lobby corridor that ran to the back of the building, with four auditoriums off each side.
The front of the building was double height with offices upstairs that were used for the managers, the regional manager and also for training. There were restaurant and bar units on either side of the front doors.
The projection suite was one long booth.
The cinema was very popular and very upmarket. However its market share was gradually eroded by new cinemas in the centre of Birmingham, then by the Virgin at Rubery, and the final nail in the coffin was the opening of the nearby Cineworld in Solihull in a new shopping centre.
Built on a prime piece of land, the UCI after closing was quickly demolished and a BMW dealership was built on the site.

This cinema had 2 THX screens what where they like in terms of the stage bass and sub bass to surrounds and how many films can you remember how they felt.
Did the stage bass press on your bodies with such mass of weight along with the subs and was the subs smooth crossover blend from 35mm Dolby A and SR matrix to digital SW LFE.1 to stage channels. Was the surrounds fully enveloping and did they have a bass mid feel that you could feel in the seats or on your body?
What type THX trailers was often played.
What type speakers was it JBL?
