The Light House Media Centre opened on 16th March 1987. Seating capacities in the 2-screens are; 240 and 110.
On 3rd November 2022, it was announced that the Light House Media Centre was to close after 35-years at the Chubb Buildings. 15 full time staff lost their jobs due to the closure. The City of Wolverhampton Council said the Light House Media Centre had received about £333,000 of local authority funding over the past decade. Manager of the Light House Media Centre, Darryl Griffiths, filed the company for Liquidation in January 2023. In May 2023, eight firms put bids in to run the cinema. The City of Wolverhampton Council said they aim for a new cinema or creative arts operator to take over the running of the two-screen cinema by Summer of 2023. As of Autumn 2023, the cinema is still closed. Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal said “We are determined to bring the space back as a cinema, creative arts of performance space as quickly as possible, with an operator that can provide a sustainable future”.
On 21st December 2023 it was announced that the Light House Cinema had been taken over by PDJ Management Ltd. and would be renovated and converted into a four screeN cinema with plans to reopen in Summer 2024.
The Chubb Buildings which contain the cinema is a Grade II Listed building.

When I left the Kings West Bromwich. I was the first Manager to be appointed for the opening following its conversion from an old factory. It was then operated by the University and Wolverhampton Council. When I left Jas Kapur took over as the Manager who ironically was the projectionist I worked with at the ABC/EMI Cinema before it closed.
