The June 10, 1950 issue of BoxOffice reported that the Stovall, “an 800-seater at Sayre, jointly owned by (Video Independent Theatres) and George Stovall”, was scheduled to open later that month.

With the depopulation of western Oklahoma, this is an all too familiar sight. There are some beautiful old theatres setting empty just like this one. Check out the Vesta in Weatherford, the Redlands in Clinton, or the Esquire in Hobart. One bright spot is the resurrection of the Washita Theatre in Cordell!
