The Avon Theater was opened in February 1934. It was part of the Stewart and Everett chain in the 1960’s.

Never heard of that movie in 1984 photo,noticed a “MAN THAT LOVED WOMEN” in the one sheet frame,wonder if they could be talking about the Burt Reynolds comedy? It was owned in the 50’s by Statesville Theatre Corp.

The new Avon Theatre was mentioned in the March 31, 1934 issue of Motion Picture Herald, which said that Gordon Ballew had been named manager, and added that “[t]he house is owned by local business men and constructed at a cost of $65,000.” The Avon had opened in February.
