The IMAX theater was a separate entity and listed separately from the AMC Sunset Place 24 in the Miami Herald. It was located where LA Fitness is now, at the US-1 entrance to the Shops at Sunset Place parking garage, (while the AMC Sunset Place 24 is in the center of the mall on the 3rd floor).

The IMAX closed in the early 00’s, but should have its own Cinema Treasures listing.

After the IMAX closed, the AMC Sunset Place 24 added some form of IMAX in some of its theaters. (Now the only “true” IMAX in the original sense I know of in South Florida is the AutoNation IMAX 3-D Theater at the Museum of Discovery & Science in Ft. Lauderdale.)

There is now a small bar called MacGuffins (a sign says it’s a termed coined by Alfred Hitchcock) serving alcohol on the left side of the AMC Sunset Place 24 lobby pictured above.

I saw Interstellar in beautiful 35mm here today. The quality of the presentation was great (especially for a week-old print), and the facility was well maintained and staffed. Please note that the shopping center charges for parking, but you can validate it for a discount.
