Located in the West New Brighton district of Staten Island. The following info is taken from the December 26, 1999 edition of the Staten Island Advance:
This theatre in West New Brighton, made its debut on Labor Day of 1924.
It later became known as the first Staten Island theatre to show first-run films exclusively. Its doors closed in 1950 when television cut into its attendance.

The theatre was built in 1924.
Once again, a “FOR SALE” sign has been posted.
does anyone know exactly when the theatre closed? i am 46, a lifelong s.i. resident and dont remember it being open in my youth..
It is still listed in the Film Daily Yearbook:1957 edition, but with no seating capacity shown (meaning it could have just closed)
I’m 57, born & raised on the Island, and have no recollection of the Capitol.
A fairly recent photograph of the Capitol Theatre can be seen halfway down this page:

From Google Street Views the building looks like it’s being used as a warehouse. The main entrance is bricked over.
Listings for the Capitol theatre in West Brighton ended in 1950 in the Advance.
