The Chinese opening advertisement of the Metro Theatre

The Metro Theatre was the first theatre to be built in a public housing estate in Hong Kong. It was situated in Shek Kip Mei, a public housing estate, on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong.

The theatre opened to business on 27th May 1963 with a colour Cantonese film, and showed first run Chinese dialect and selected English films until its closure on 1st November 1974.

A residential building was built on the site of the theatre.
